| Exposure Data: | 12/7/2001. 25 x 1m. -25°C, 2.65
arc-sec./pixel. |
| Processing: | Acquired in Maxim, reduced, aligned and
combined in Mira. Layered with a single image to provide a star field in
Photoshop, using Ron Wodaski’s techniques. |
| Optical System: | TV-140 5.5” f/5 APO refractor, ST-8E NABG/CFW-8A
CCD camera, AP900GTO mount. |
| Comments: | The comet was getting low in the horizon but
the data was reasonably good. The basic technique was to combine the 25
images (after dark subtract and flat field) using the comet’s centroid and
layer it into a single image taken in the middle of the sequence. Star
trails from the combined image were removed by the “dust and scratches”
filter and/or clone tool in Photoshop. The black point was set a bit high to
show more detail in the tail. |
